Native plants for the ACT — pre-1750 vegetation
Enter any Canberra or ACT address and read the pre-European vegetation subgroup that stood there.

Subgroup · NVIS national layerThe ACT doesn't publish its own pre-1750 vegetation layer, so we read the national NVIS 7.0 pre-1750 layer. Canberra sits in temperate grassy woodland and montane forest country — much of it box-gum grassy woodland, one of the most cleared and most threatened communities in south-eastern Australia.
The ACT is surrounded by New South Wales, which is mapped in far more detail. If your interest is just over the border, search the NSW address directly — you'll get a community-level Plant Community Type rather than a national subgroup.
We're building indigenous planting lists on top of the national subgroups. Search your address and leave your email to be sent the list for your vegetation when it's ready.
